They usually post them to see how many responses they get. If they recieve enough interest, they will usually go foward with their plans. They did the same thing in Savannah and Augusta. It's definitely a good sign.

Did this ever come to fruition in Columbus?

Nothing yet but I've read we've had Uber ads on the radio so I assume they are still coming. I would think Columbus would be a top priority for Uber, so my guess would be they are running into some red tape getting in.

A Facebook campaign brought it to Macon. Uber may very well do in Columbus what they did in Macon...rather than create a new city with new price structures, they just extended Atlanta's Uber range south to include Macon and Warner Robins. Uber seems to like military towns as they have lots of potential drivers and lots of young people who embrace new technology I imagine. Looking at this map, it wouldn't take much to move the line down to add Columbus: https://www.uber.com/cities/atlanta/ Perhaps they want Columbus to be it's own place like Athens and Savannah. Who knows as they are a bit secretive right until launch date.

Thanks for the info...I was curious as I am heading over to Columbus soon and when traveling alone a nice sports bar with good craft beer kills the time better than a hotel bar...I will make sure the two are closer now so I can walk. Thanks.

With our military presence I'm very surprised they weren't here ages ago. They were definitely looking here recently. That's why I'm thinking they are running into some red tape coming here. Hopefully it will happen soon.

Local cab companies could be fighting it. Columbus would be a prime target for Uber.
