Crime in Columbus is escalating. Having a triple murder in what's supposed to be the nicer part of this city is more than disturbing. I'm afraid it's a harbinger of more to come. I hope the officials catch the criminals responsible for this heinous crime in Upitoi.

When we moved here in 2011, folks stated on this forum to stay north of Macon Road. We did. We also looked for the best school for our daughter. That placed us in Midland. Not long after we moved in, I noticed how crime in my area is far above average for a city this size. Where we came from in S.E. Tennessee, break-ins, larceny and petty theft were rare, and serious crime, such as armed robbery, was unheard of. But here in Columbus, just two streets over from my house, a family was robbed at gun point by three masked men. And now, just east of us, it appears an innocent family was slaughtered in their home, in an area known to be a "nice neighborhood" and relatively disconnected from the scum and swill of the inner-city.

I used to like it here, but Columbus is becoming more and more a ghetto dump, no matter where you live. My wife continues to like it here, but now after all this senseless crime so close to home, I'm beginning to despise the place and look forward to living in a more sensible area where we don't read about armed robbery and murder in my neighborhood in the papers.
