Interesting perspective into the Colombus mentality.

What's that supposed to mean? Water parks and ski rinks are nice. I think it would be great if Columbus had a water park, but with one already up the road in Auburn I don't see one being built in Ctown too.

The ice rink is happening. It is being designed right now. It will be built by the Civic Center at South Commons. I think a water park would be great. It sure is hot enough to have one open 6 months out of the year

SuperTarget.
Oh, and movie theatres that don't smell so awful. Each screen has it's own unique, disgusting funk.

Rofl.
I think they must bring the family to see the show after having done yardwork all day.
Try going into the Medical Center main entrance around dinnertime!!
It smells like a high school locker room...dusgusting.

I agree....
You would think developers would be all over this with BRAC/Kia regardless of current economy in anticipation of big bucks.
Obviously they are thinking the same thing with sales taxes down 30 percent which means there is nearly a third less buying going on and nearly 15k+ people wandering around town looking for jobs that do not exist.

As a developer, we don't think that way. We would if we could. BRAC is happening during the worst time since the Great Depression. If we could get FINANCING, we would.....trust me. Has nothing to do with 2 months of tax revenues being down . I know what is in the pipeline for Columbus due to the fact I know every developer in town. Friends with Ben Carter too....(he will be adding to CPC down the road).
BTW, if you haven't noticed...there are no jobs anywhere.

I know several builders in town that do not need financing and they are still not acting on the supposed buildup.
Obviously by your post BRAC will have little if any meaningful boost to local economy if things are as you stated.
By the way tax revenues have been down for quite some time and will not improve since there are no jobs available for that many people.

If you think that an influx of 30,000 people won't be a boost to any regions economy, apparently you know nothing about economics. I know just about every major home builder in Columbus. A lot of them jumped the gun when it was announced. BRAC couldn't have been announced at the worst time in real estate history. And yes, every developer/home builder is having trouble getting financing. CB&T has basically suspended lending money due to the amount of delinquent/late loans they have from projects around the Southeast. It has to do with the amount of contingent liabilities a developer has, something you know nothing about. You just don't know what you are talking about.

How will 30k boost economy of a town with 15k already out of work and climbing?
You will have to explain that to me as less than half will even have a job when they get here according to Benning press.
Financing is still available according to local sources as CB&T is not the only game in town.
Everyone has liabilities certainly not just the poor developer who everyone knows fell into the greed pit and mostly the young hot shots who have the "eat what you kill mentality" that blew up in their faces.
You will live and learn.
If not you certainly will in the near future.
