Fort Benning's Growth Impact on Columbus
With Fort Benning bringing 40,000+ new residents to Columbus due to BRAC by 2011 , what impact will it have on the city? With that many people coming in such a short time, the local real estate market is expected to boom. Even in these hard times and with the base not seeing the full influx of residents, Columbus is still doing well with new projects coming out of the ground. Fort Benning has $3 billion worth of construction going on.
What will Columbus be like with 40,000 new people living in the city?

Now its 40,000 new residents..ok
This subject is old news (VERY OLD NEWS) and has been discussed countless times in these forums.
This move was made to save the govt money not bless Columbus with economic growth and will cause MAJOR PROBLEMS in a city that can barely make ends meet.
The only benefit will be for military personnel who live on base and they deserve it... as they will have nearly everything they need brand new and not have to travel offbase which will definitely save them gas, money and time.

I think you better wake up and smell the coffee young man.
Why buy in Columbus when it is cheaper on the base?

You are one of many unfortunately that will have to make a drastic lifestyle change or go under....no more growth booms, easy money or freebies
Especially financials,real estate and development.
Good luck.
