Back from Columbus
This is how the lay of the land is in Columbus:
Ghetto, AFLAC, more ghetto, downtown.
That pretty much sums it up. It's slightly better than Macon. Slightly.

Oh boy... now you have done it. And although Columbus has her defenders... they are not blind to the world around them.
P.S. Please do not go to Augusta.......

Between Macon, Columbus & Augusta, I like Augusta the most.
Columbus barely edges out Macon.

Only Albany is worse than Columbus.

You must have missed North Columbus. It's has tons of new retail, restaurants, etc. Not sure where you were but you didnt see the northside apparently.

There is very little difference among Georgia's Fall line cities.. they are not really all that much apart in size ( I mean one doesn't stand out as being substantially bigger).. all three have downtowns that saw an exodus of business and residents and are trying to bring back a renaissance, although very slowly. All three have a marked division of a nice part of town ( ie North Columbus, North macon, and West Augusta) and a more ghetto part of town, usually the southside or eastside. If you live in either one of the three, you pretty much have to drive to Atlanta to get a decent airline ticket or have a choice of more than two airlines. All this my "my city is better than yours or your city sucks" is just nonsense. The three are just really not all that different. they all have their pros and cons.

Augusta, Savannah, Macon, Columbus are not alike. They definitely have their own feel. I know people in Augusta from Macon, Savannah, and Columbus. I haven't heard anybody say its the same as their previous city. When I go to the other cities. I don't feel like im in Augusta either. And nobody drives to Atlanta from Augusta to the airport. That stopped in 2007.
