You're correct. Almost every city is down in sales tax collections.
Except Augusta. Our sales tax is up 6.02% or 9 million. From the same time period last year. Its the highest sales tax collection in Augusta's history. Since consolidation(1996) in one month.

I was going to say!!
Augusta has been on a roll for a while now and they don't even have BRAC to lean on.
There are countless similar sized cities that are WAY up over last year and they have the same issues as the rest.

This is the kind of waste the Columbus/Phenix City area had dealt with for years!!
Obviously they have not heard that we are in the midst of cost cutting and a severe recession/umemployment.

Where is the expansion at the base for bus service with BRAC etc?
Another major goof not to mention this is the road to Infantry Museum that is already losing money!!

Obviously not. On top of that, we -- the citizens -- voted yes to a special option tax with which the city has approved construction of a new schoolboard admin building, while our children face larger classroom sizes, no parapros, teacher layoffs, and outdated textbooks. And they have the nerve to fuss about poor test scores!

Good post.....
I guess the only people living in the city that still think it is progressive must be either blind or kindergarten graduates....rofl
No surprise really.

Sam,
Here is another reason the city is always broke.
I guess they will do a study in August to see how many times it rains every summer.....rofl
Kudos to Ben with the L/E who has been staying on track with those annoying HIDDEN agendas.
Keep up the good work young man!
