Comparing a country town to Atlanta in air quality?
I don't blame you for running after a statement like that.

Better you folks than us as it is the kind of growth no city wants.
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! You know, we Georgians are not going to allow any casinos to built in the great state of GA.

I notice after numerous complaints about downtown crime/robberies and gunfire from Columbus residents and Ft Benning officials they are still trying to put a bandaid on a bullet wound in todays Ledger.

Uptown hires extra off-duty officers to replace MPs on weekends

Officers are working to rid downtown of being a high-crime and dangerous area.
“It’s a perception that started prior to us working there,” Long said. “You were having incidents on a nightly basis.”
Using last week as an example, Long said the area has about three incidents a night with fights and people getting drunk and trying to damage property.
Rus Drew, police chief of the Columbus State University force, said the off-duty officers have done a good job with the big issues from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.
“I was more concerned about the loss of MPs initially, too,” Drew said. “Off-duty officers from the police department have done a great job staying focused and staying on it.”
The service officers provide must be maintained, Long said.
“You are going to have problems if you let it go,” he said.

I think the poster is saying the city is not progressing but rather decaying in growth over past 10 years.
I have to agree as Newnan/Peachtree City/Auburn Opelika areas have had massive growth since 2000 long before the recession unlike Columbus who has lost jobs, companies, low population growth, poverty and crime levels etc.

I'll sit patiently until the actual head count has been conducted. Up to this point it's just numerical estimations/guesstimates. Which means absolutely nothing. By the way, take a good look at where the massive growth has occurred in Lee county.

It looks like you may be waiting for a long time so I wouldn't be in a hurry if I were you.
Not sure what Lee county has to do with my previous post?
All Columbus has ever had are just numerical estimations/guesstimates and just don't have the financial firepower and aggressive forward thinking city council to get the job done as previous posters have said and are getting desperate for any attention they can gain.
It seems like the local community would rather just take what they can get it from what I have seen for years.
Auburn/Opelika/Newnan/Peachtree City areas have had substantial growth year after year even with 9/11 and recent recession.
As another poster remarked "Something is wrong there but I cannot put my finger on it".
