Default Pine Mountain

Is this a nice place to vacation? We are tring to find a chalet/ cabin that's closest to FL. We'd like a secluded/woodsy area with at least rolling hills. Also, would like a fireplace and jacuzzi. I'm trying to stay at a $100 or less per night. We have 2 kids, 15 and 19. What does the town have? Anything like this closer to FL?

Pine Mountain is a great area. Lots of hiking trials, nice shops and restaurants, etc. Don't forget Callaway Gardens is there. The place is a giant nature preserve with bike trails, lakes, golf courses, nature musuems, etc. Warm Springs is a nice town not too far away with shops and a few restaurants. There is nothing like this closure to Florida. Pine Mountain is the southernmost portion of the Appalachian Mountains.

Thanks for clarifying that.

My family and I actually stayed in a cabin in Pine Mountain (high on the ridge/mountain) for a weekend vacation. Very nice. Fireplace, trails, everything.

Like the poster above said, Pine Mountain is the most southern point of the Appalachian Mountains. Since you are in Florida, it is a very wise choice (and you'll be very happy).

Just hope that others (cough, Metro Atlantans, cough, other Floridians/South Georgians/South Alabamans, cough) don't soon discover it as well.

Columbusattorney is on a distinguished road
It used to be the place to go back in the 70's and 80's but has become very trashy and Pine Mountain(the town) has fallen apart literally.
Save your money and head on up to Chattanooga and beyond!!
You will be glad you did.

Read the reviews and judge for yourself.......

I agree CA.....

Read this recent review on Callaway Gardens......

After reading many of the reviews on the trip advisor, I did not have high expectations for Callaway Gardens but thought it would be a great place to go to just get away from Atlanta for the weekend. Unfortunately, I was completely wrong. My girlfriends and I received no rest or relaxation from the moment that we stepped foot on the property of Callaway Gardens on October 16th!
We arrived at the Lodge to check-in to our cottage to find out that the power had gone out! After waiting in line we were finally able to check-in and we were given keys to a cottage that had not been cleaned! When I say that the cottage hadn't been cleaned, I mean that it appeared as if the previous renters went out the back door just as we were coming in the front. Sheets and blankets were off the bed, wet towels were on the floor, the floors were filthy, and the toilet was running as if someone recently used it!!!!
I was completely horrified and told the Lodge receptionist off! They didn't have another cottage to put us in that was clean and we had to wait around for an hour as the housekeeping staff serviced our room! The kitchen was not well equiped and the cabinet doors were hanging off of the hinges. They recently painted the cottage walls but failed to replace the carpet which was covered in paint, stating that they are in the middle of renovating the cottage! Why in the hell would they put someone in a cottage that was not completely finished!
The visiting roaches were the icing on the cake, as far as I'm concerned......... With the amount of money I spent, I expected more than a dirty room and lack-luster service. Highly disappointed.

Oh brother. Here we go with the constant non-constructive complaints about Columbus. If it's so horrible then leave geez said Louise.

Anywho I think Pine Mountain is very pretty and nice. I can't speak for the hotel accomodations. I lived in Columbus so no need for a hotel. And when I do go home the best (and most expensive) way to gain the vengeful wrath of my mother is stay at hotel versus her home. So with that said Pine Mountain is very pretty especially in the spring before it gets too hot. There are definitely some spots with beautiful views for miles on a clear day. It's a little cooler there too than Columbus. So definitely recommend it'll be a nice getaway.

After those reviews I think most folks could find any number of getaways that exceed Pine Mountain as the entire town has nearly fell apart from lack of upkeep.

Yeah but for someone coming from Florida it's a little closer than other mountain towns. And I liked Pine Mountain it was nice. Don't be such a hater. Really and truly no one goes to Pine Mountain just for a super nice town Florida has plenty of those. Pine Mountain is about the nice atmosphere, rolling hills and getting back to nature.
