correct Bodycount, you shouldn't have to have anybody remind you to do something, but people get fined all the time. you'd think they would learn.

as for the law, that was for new building after that date.
usually a management company runs the association or a board of elected home owners.
if you move into a comm. with a HOA, and want to change something in the deed or disband the HOA, it takes 50% of the home owners to vote on it. We're lucky to get close to 50 home owners out of 300 houses.

to behindenemylines- I agree with you. I don't want to live next to the house with 2 cars on blocks, shutters falling off their house and etc. they are simple rules that everybody should follow when owning a house, no matter where they live.

Like I stated, I don't mind them. I keep my house and yard up and clean. My next house will be out of the city, but I will still keep it up.

Behindenemylines: I agree with you 100%!!! Sure it kinda sucks knowing you can't do whatever you want, but the good thing is I don't have to look at my neighbors' poor taste in decor and storage!

what bugs me is the people who buy in these communities and then come to the meetings and complain about it (the HOA). you're the dumba** that bought a house here, and you didn't have to. you only have yourself to blame! duh!
