Hi. Im considering relocating to Columbus. Im a 36yo gay male looking to settle down somewhere a bit more gay friendly and easier to meet guys (i live in Dayton). Im also looking at Chicago and Ft Lauderale So FLA area. I like Columbus for the cost of living and size/ease of living, plus its closer to home and my family who are all still in Dayton. Im familiar with the gay areas and neighborhoods having spent alot of time there in Columbus. Im wanting to know what it is like to live there full time. Is it easy to meet people, make new friends? How about being gay in the open? Here in dayton, I can hardly meet any guys who will go on dates and its a terrible place to try and meet guys because of how closeted it is. Is Columbus any better being in OHio and being so closeby? Im liberal and am also wantng to get away from all the right wing viewpoints I am surrounded by here.

I have friends who are gay and from what they say, it is very easy to meet other gay individuals in Columbus. As a whole, people here are just friendly. However, the areas closer to downtown seem to be more gay-friendly than some of the suburbs...like Victorian Village, German Village, Short North, etc. But you will have no problem making friends and fitting in here. Good luck on your move!

Default Thank you!

Thank you for the input. That is the feeling I get when I visit friends up there. I am looking at the Victorian Village and German Village areas. I still have a year or so before I can transfer with work, but Im trying to get an early start on locations. Thanks again
