Default Where would you in Columbus or surrounding area??

Just for fun I saw this on another State's thread. Where would you move in Columbus or surrounding areas and why?? Would love to hear everyone's opinion. Your budget for housing would be around $750k.
Thanks for all input - can't wait to read what everyone thinks.

A lot has already been posted here on that topic, I would suggest you take a look through some of the other threads here and see if you could refine your issues or concerns.

Off the top of my head at your budget New Albany or Powell seem like good choices, but you need to specify what your priorities are. Both have great schools, New Albany more of a HOA type of community with significant restrictions, but Powell has some too.

Edit - since the basic thread topic no longer mentions New Albany, I would add Dublin to the areas for consideration.

Since I generally hate HOAs (freakin' nosy busybodies!) and prefer to have some breathing room, I'd head for any of the outlying, unincorporated township areas in one of the adjacent counties—especially Delaware, Pic kaway or my native Fairfield Co.

The ultimate in coolness to me would be a nice, classic Victorian or Federal style farmhouse with some acreage.

And yeah...in the right area, a $750K budget would buy a pretty fine spread indeed

Shoot, get far enough out and you can buy a county!

You could live just about anywhere on that BUDGET ! OPTION 1 - I would choose a house with 2-3000 sq feet on 10ish wooded acres near Big Darby Creek. OPTION 2 I would buy an 1800-2500 sq ft home on the outskirts of Franklin county or in one of the neighboring counties with a large lot and a 2nd home in the Hocking Hills. OPTION 3 Westgate Park and a 2nd home on the Atlantic coast/Carolinas. OPTION 4 Huge old house on acerage to renovate and convert to a Bed&Breakfast in the Lancaster area. OMG I can't decide.......

Default City Center

I think, I, too, would buy some acreage away from the neighbors with whom my only interaction would be a smile and a wave; or, I would purchase a home in an older more established neighborhood downtown (Grandview, Bexley, German Village, etc.) The suburbs afforded my children an excellent education but I just don't have the sense of community that my friends downtown have.

Maybe I would move to Historic Worthington...But, Dublin? Pick a phone number from the phone book with a Dublin listing; call the homeowner and ask them who lives four houses down. Oh! They know their name? Ask anything else a neighbor would know about a neighbor...Dublin? Don't think so...

Just north of downtown
Victorian Village or southern Italian Village, safe for the inner city, close to all of the best local restaurants, boutiques, walkable, attractive, and beautiful old victorian buildings that could never be replicated.
This section also has very stable and increasing property values, and the best ammentities in all of columbus, (arena district, goodale park, movie theaters, north market, grocery stores, shops, coffe, bars, schools, jobs are all IN walking distance, or a very short drive)
