Default More out-of-state vehicles?

I am not sure is it just me. I notice since last year there are many out-of-state vehicles around Columbus.

Recently I saw more from Missouri, and Minessota, and Illinois. Saw a lot of Indianna, Michigan, Pennsylvania.

Spot a few California and Florida plates too.

Not sure if this has been the the old trend or new trend. I recalled spotting a thread few months back mentioning the same thing.

I reckon this has been going on since the National Road first came through in the 1830s

Seriously, Columbus has always been a logical stopping/trading/meeting point along one of the most popular east-west travel routes in American history. This is even cited as one of the contributing factors in Columbus' steady growth through the years.

First the National Road, then U.S. 40, and now I-70 have all carried pretty much the same traffic flow (to/from the same destinations) for all this time. Businesses along both 40 and 70 still cater to travelers from all points on the map.

Old trend but with new reasons. People have come from all over to go to OSU (surprise, I'm sure), but nowadays it's also about the jobs, and I'm amazed just walking back to my car at work and looking at the plates and plate frames how many people are from CA and other non-midwestern areas. Saw one today which said Huntington Beach, probably CA. Business First (bizjournals.com/columbus) has recent articles about how the city, and the economy, are growing, and it's because we attract people from other areas.
