Smile I know a great place to live....

I visited Gahanna, a suberb of Columbas last summer. I stayed with cousins there for a month and loved it. Gahanna has beautiful neighborhoods, lots of schools and churches...Shopping, and is still a suburb of Columbus. It doesn't take long at all to go to Columbus.

I live within Columbus city limits but in the Groveport Madison School district. Do not send your children to Groveport if you want to deal with split sessions and possibly no busing to the high school. Also, the district is no better than Columbus. Columbus is a beautiful city and has a lot of safe neighborhoods as well as bad ones. For my family, we bought our home in a cheap area and are sending our kids to private school! There are so many good private schools in the city where children get the education they deserve despite where they happen to be stuck living. So, if you don't live in any of the glorified suburbs, your children can still have a chance in the world! Also, because Columbus city schools are not doing well, they have a lot of charter schools you could look into. The Olentangy school district is growing, but because it is so popular right now, I'm sure they will have a levy coming up in a few years. Westerville is having problems getting a levy passed, which could dimish popularity with that system. Good Luck!

Default Westerville Schools

I know Westerville had been having problems passing school levies, but we think we have that problem solved. In November 2005 no incumbent was re-elected to our school board. Lack of fiscal responsibility of the school board was the reason most of the people didn't vote for the levies which failed. May 2006 we passed our school levy without any question. Our son is a 2005 graduate of Westerville schools and also attended the Delaware Area Career Center half-days his last two years of high school. He was able to attend in Information Technology Academy. He now is a student at Columbus State Community College majoring in interactive multimedia. He feels as though he's having an easier time than most students with whom he attends classes. He gives credit to the preparation he got at both schools...even though he didn't think it was happening while in attendance. There are many good school systems, but I can only speak fully on Westerville. Good luck!!

After my wife and I have been living in NC these past few years, we have decided to relo within next 12-15 mos, possibly to the greater Cbus area. We are a mid/high mid income household, 30 somethings no kids living with us (other than our lovely GSD who is a great people pleaser). We want some space but also a reasonable commute to good restaurants &/or ethnic foods grocers. We have already ruled out Short North area - great to visit! German Village is cool, but no space.

Looking for anyone's feedback. How does Cbus compare to Greater Cincy area? In what ways?

Many kind thanks!

I would check out New Albany, Ohio and Hilliard, Ohio. They are not far from the city of Columbus and they still are quiet. They are very nice suburbs.

Smile I recommend Choctaw Lake, London, Ohio 43140

We moved to Choctaw Lake from Columbus two years ago and have never regretted it. It's paradise. Lot's of folks here commute to Columbus, and Dayton every day.

Check us out !

If you're still around this board...some info:

Columbus is a fast growing city by Midwestern standards. Where are you living now? There are a lot of great neighborhoods and some shady ones.

-Are public schools important?
-Why are you moving?
-Do you have a job yet?
-What kind of neighborhood do you want?

That will help guide you.

I am planning on moving to columbus from northeastern pa and i am researching several areas. I have 4 elementary aged children and was wondering how valley view area schools and surroundings are.

Valleyview is located in the Columbus City School District which is typically not as good as surrounding suburbs. Consider Lincoln Village which is in the SouthWestern City Schools.
