I am married with three children (all girls). We are relocating from Maryland. Can anyone recommend a nice place in Columbus to raise a family on a limited budget? Any information you may have on elementary schools and housing would be helpful.
Thanks alot. |

If your looking for nicer/family neighborhoods in columbus, the one that is often considered the nicest is Clintonville/Beechwold, this is located in the central/north section of columbus just north of Ohio State University. Also, the NW section of columbus off of Bethel and Henderson Rd. area. Sharon Woods is affordable neighborhood in NE columbus, but the city schools are all better in the ones i listed before.

Westgate is also a pretty good area. Westerville and Gahanna tend to have larger yards. New Albany has some of the best schools.

Good luck with your move............
We transferred here 6 years ago and chose Lancaster..........it is about 30 to 45 minutes to Columbus..........depending on where you will be working. We have many neighbors who make the commute into Columbus. Schools are decent. We have three daughters also..........two are at Tarhe Elementary and we have been happy with their teachers and the principal there. We love Lancaster........safe, low crime, you can get alot of house for your money now........especially with the housing market. Good luck...........know how stressful relocating can be..........we will be doing it soon also.......... Last edited by Yac; 07-27-2007 at 09:18 AM. Reason: advertising not allowed |

I would say to look around Sawmill Road area. The schools would be Dublin or Worthington. I lived in Old Sawmill when I was little until mid 20's. This development is cut down the middle with half of the children going to Dublin schools and the other going to Worthington schools. The houses range from $175,000 to almost $300,000. Nice houses and good sized yards. The house's average 3 bedrooms 2.5 baths. But i know that you will be able to find a house with 4 bedrooms. Usually a finished basement. Most of the houses now have been updated with hardwood, granite and ect. Mature trees and a safe place to have children. There is a very nice community park inside old sawmill. I went to all of the Worthington schools. Liberty, Sutter, Granby, McCord and Kilbourne high school. I am 28 and I am still friends with people that I have known since I was little. Both Dublin and Worthington LOVE there sport teams. Most people that I know had continued there sport all through college.
Hopefully this helps. If you need a realtor let me know. My mother has been one for over 25 years |
