Any bars or clubs that regularly play house music or techno?
I know Ohioans don't like to dance but are there any places that have regular house or techno nights?

There use to be more, but this isn't the 90s anymore hun.
And columbus is a great bar/lounge city now, use to be a better dance city
The drugged out club days are seen as kind of out of style now, but there's still some places that do housem they are usually smaller and more lounge oriented these days
BOMA (friday)
Spice Lounce has house
Sugar has house on some nights, and some guest djs others
ON the OSU campus Bento Go Go, has atleast 3 nights w/ house but they change a lot
and theres some spot in the Brewery District on Front ST.
if you go to columbusunderground.com you will see a message board with a listing of all nights and special nights at clubs, from house to techno, etc.

Thanks for the laugh, streetcreed. Back in the day, I remember a couple places... 700 High (which is now home to a restaurant) and Mekka. I went to 700 High quite a few times and Mekka once, maybe twice. You correctly point to the unfortunate scene that sometimes accompanies techno.
I've always said that there is actually plenty to do in Columbus, you might have to do some research and dig a little bit - but it is there. Unfortunately, many out-of-towners (incorrectly) view Columbus as home only to fast-food restaurants and your 'same old-same old' casual sit-down chains like Applebees, etc.

Oh yeah
You should definitely check out bristol bar. They're at the corner of fifth ave and summit ave. Great time. Great DJs. Banging beats. Great atmosphere. Great martinis (according to some Columbus poll). I love it.
They're also on myspace. Look 'em up.
And what do you mean Ohioans don't like to dance!? If you want to see people dance, you better get to bristol!

Been to SF, I didn't waste any of my time in clubs. Being a tourist, why would I want to do something that I could do in my hometown? Nothing against clubs, I just know that there is more to life. I guess I've never been much of a dancer, although I do appreciate music. Real music anyway.

I do enjoy live music. My stomping grounds, when out of Columbus, tend to be more east coast, Toronto and Chicago. Both have very lively house scenes.
Columbus' Bristol bar has many good local and regional acts. It's a smaller lounge but nice and has a good vibe.
The clubs that would be similar to music you might here back home would exist when there's a guest DJ or special event.
These use to be weekly but many of the larger venues put each other out of business. Right now there seems to be random events, Columbus Underground or the Columbus Alive paper would have information on guest DJs or local/regional acts the many smaller lounges and bars, like Bristol or Bento Go Go.
You can count on hearing live music in Columbus every week but live "good" house music regularly only in lounge and smaller venues (at this point) although Columbus does have many clubs but they tend to play typical club fair (with the exception of the many Gay Clubs that stick to techno.)
