Things to do for the weekend?
Hi everyone. I'll be visiting Columbus this coming weekend and wanted to know what are the recommendations of the locals for things to do in town? I've never been to the city before and I'm quite excited to explore. I've read about the Short North, German Village, and the Arena District from tourist-y websites, but I want to know more specific recommendations. I love trying out new restaurants and walking around quaint districts. Any good local cuisine/restaurants I should go to? Any good areas to explore on foot?

Some quaint area short walks the Mrs and I liked to take when we lived in Columbus:
City Park Avenue and around Schiller Park in German Village
Neil Ave between Buttles Ave and 5th Ave in Victorian Village and along Buttles Ave to High St (Goodale Park) in the Short North, You can continue on High St back to 5th and make this a loop trip too.
The area all around the intersection of High St and Dublin-Granville Rd in Worthington

Those areas are great, also, grandview ave. is a great strip, just drive north on High St. to King Ave. and turn Right. (west on King Ave. ) Drive about 5minutes and Then Turn Left on Grandview Ave. The Grandview Strip is small but worth it for some other restaurants, however, the ones in Short North should come first.
Also, Franklin Park Conservatory is located on East Broad ST. It is a great outdoor park and conservatory.
Also, there is the Wexner Center for the Arts in the university district which is just north on HIgh ST. from the Short North Arts District.
And the statehouse in the center of downtown is an example of Greek Revival architecture and is worth a tour, they are every day on the hour, like 10-3 weekdays and weekends(though i am not sure of the exact weekend hours, they are shorter)
Also, columbus has the beautiful Ohio and Palace theaters located near the Statehouse, the OHIO is having an old film series right now.
The short north and the gateway on the OSU campus are the best option for boutique shopping, but for more of a mall atmosphere, Easton located 10 minutes from downtown on 270 interstate is an outdoor entertainment center.

Good picks Streetcreed, but shouldn't they turn left (instead of right) on King Ave to get to Grandview? Wouldn't a right, and five minutes of driving, put them in an "unpleasant" area?
Or is my Columbus memory getting faulty?

I am sorry I was up late working and made a typo:
Coming from downtown, To get to Grandview
Turn (LEFT) on King Ave.
Continue ON King Ave. Drive past Olentangy River Rd. and King and go Straight
Turn LEFT on Grandview Ave. (the sign is slightly hidden, but this route is needed because of a detour due to road construction)
If you are coming from the north (OSU) you turn right onto King Ave., and the rest of the directions are the same
Hope that helps!
