Hey everyone. I'm new here, but I realize these types of threads pop up a lot. So I will try to be very specific and to the point, and would appreciate any insight I receive.

I am moving to Columbus in about a month. I went to Ohio State 3 years ago, so I know the city a little bit. With my budget, I have to spend under $550/month on rent, unless utilities are included or other deals are in place. I also am likely bringing two cats with me, so the apartment has to allow pets. It's just me, so I am basically looking at 1 bedroom units.

I have already looked at a few places, but plan on going back in a week or so to look at more apartments. I'm really not dead set on living in a certain area, as long as it won't be a horrible commute to work, which is downtown. Obviously, the closer I live, the more I save on gas. But there are just some spots that I am not willing to live. The nicer places I've found downtown all seem to be out of my price range (no big shocker there).

I was okay with 2 of the places I looked at already (Barclay Square and Slate Run), but didn't feel good about the others (Walnut Glen, Karl Plaza, Acropolis, Cornerstone-turned around and left as soon as I pulled in!)

So far, I have a few places starred that I plan to look at:
Brittany Bay
Woodlake Village
The Elms
Reflections on the Lake
Continent VillageHickory Creek Lane

I also have a list of other places categorized by area:
1) Downtown: Americana, Skyview Towers (I saw the horrible reviews on this site in another thread, but figure it can't hurt to take a peak)

2) Northeast: Kilborough, Spring Creek, Pier Point, Arbors of Gahana, Hunters Ridge, Essington Village, Schrock Park, Wake Robin, Kings Highlands

3) Northwest: Fox & Hounds

Another list I found of places that are in my price range: Fairport Gardens, Galloway Village, Stone Lodge, West of Eastland, Parkville, Amesbury, Stonecrest, Whispering Oaks, Springwood, Rosewood, Meadowood, Ashford Hill, Big Walnut, Regency Arms, Sherbrook

A long list, I know. But I've been trying to do my homework, based on what I've read to be okay areas and not-so-okay areas, which places have gotten decent/horrible reviews, what's in my price range, etc. And if I look around enough, I should be able to find a decent place in an area where I feel comfortable (that's the plan at least).

So if anyone has any information about the specific places I've listed (good, decent, bad, dont even bother!) or has any other suggestions, I am all ears!

Sawmill ridge was out of my price range, but I am looking at Franklins Crossing and Bayside Commons next week.

Also I have appointments for a handfull of properties in the 43229 zip code, most of them near dublin-granville road, some near morse road. Anyone familiar with the area?
