Emergency Rental Assistance??? Where to Go? (apartment, eviction, hotel)

Who can I contact to receive Emergency Rental Asssitance? My friend is going to receive an eviction notice if she doesn't pay her rent by the 12th. She doesn't have the money and needs help.

Tell her to contact the local job and family service department. If she has kids, they have resources to help. They have what is called a PRC department which may be able to help her keep her apartment. If your friend doesn't have kids, the only thing I can think of is contacting the local Salvation Army or seeing if you have 311 in your area (not to be confused with 411, 311 is a free service that will link you to community resources in your area).

She's in a bad pridicament because in order to get her children back she has to have an apartment but she can't get assistance from most places unless she has children living with her I gave her the information for the Salvation Army. Hopefully she can get some help from them.

Unfortunately, Slavation Army doesn't have any funds available for assistance at this time

Does anyone know of any other private organizations that may not publicly advertise giving assistance such as this?

I strongly recommend 311. Local churches also can be of assistance. A friend of mine contacted a local church when she was homeless, and they put her up in a hotel, provided her with food and even helped with a security deposit on an apartment. The PRC department at JFS should be able to help (if funds are available) even if your friend doesn't currently have her kids. Just make sure when she fills out the application she puts that the reason is so she can get her kids back.

Getting an eviction notice does not mean the 'renter' has to immediatly vacate

I am in serious need of help or advice. I had just recently lost my job. I have two young children and their father had just left me. I am only a month behind on lot rent in a trailer park but, my landlord is threatening an eviction notice. I have called churches and there is no funds. I was on assistance and im not elligable for 2years. I have no family in this are im in ohio. any advice.

As a previous poster said contact job and family services for a PRC> You DO have to have minor children and you also have to have the evicition notice to apply. You can recieve up to $1000 towards rent and utilities.
