Would this mean new establishments then? For more and more people. Well, that's somehow good too...if we tend to look at it's cause..that would be great.

No, nothing like that. It's just a big pipe designed to keep storm water out of the Scioto river. Nothing more, nothing less.

The sewer project is to eliminate sewage overflows into the Scioto, and the practicality of removing the resultant odors from the river and nearby sewers. This project should greatly increase water quality, and with the upcoming dam removals and land restoration projects, the Scioto is looking to return to it's former self in the coming years.

As far as resultant projects, a cleaner river with more greenspace will ultimately be more attractive to potential developers. The entire 56-acre Scioto Peninsula on the other side of the river from Downtown, is now in the planning stages for redevelopment, with everything from office towers to residential to a new Crew Stadium being speculated.

There is also more development beginning in the RiverSouth area of Downtown near the Front and Main intersection. Casto is redeveloping a building there and there are several surface lots in the area that are being looked at.
