Casino might have hotel as well | The Columbus Dispatch

Looks like the casino will be building a hotel sometime after the casino opens, and it could be one of the tallest buildings in Columbus, at up to 25-30 stories. More likely much smaller, though.

Ugly wall mars city

Columbus Commons park has been a huge success, probably bigger than even the planners thought. Events there, even smaller ones, have drawn large crowds, and its existance has sparked more building and redevelopment in the Downtown area, including at the park itself, which will follow original plans and get two large residential buildings starting this summer/fall.

However, the wall behind the park has been an eyesore since it opened, and until now no one knew that any negotiations were taking place to do something about it. It seems like there are several options on the table, but disagreement on what exactly to do.

Removal of Fifth Avenue Dam Scheduled This Fall

The 5th Avenue low-head dam on the Olentangy River will start being removed this fall. The $6.9 million project will help restore natural flow and increase greenspace along the river. This is similar to what is going to be done along the Scioto River in Downtown. The city is making big efforts to restore rivers to their natural state, reducing pollution and making for large tracts of park space all along the rivers.
