East Franklinton Planned as Dense Hub of Urban Creativity

The East Franklinton Plan (not including the Scioto Peninsula redevelopment, which remains in planning) was finalized recently. The plan calls for:

-Up to 400 new single-family homes
-Up to 4,300 residential units (apartments/condos)
-100,000 square feet of retail
-100,000 square feet of artist space
-150,000 square feet of entrepreneurial space for startups
-No parking requirements, at least not suburban style in nature.

This is a long term plan and is a development guide only. East Franklinton is only just beginning to really turn around, and this plan will guide how things get built as interest in the area grows. Basically, they want a dense, urban, walkable neighborhood.

National Church Residences opens Commons at Third providing apartments for homeless - Columbus - Business First

NCR opened its 5th apartment complex for low-income or homeless residents, this time at Norton near Grandview Yard. The other complexes offer housing to recovering substance abusers and homeless veterans. The $11 million project is nice because it looks like any upscale apartment building, not some square box with the look and feel of low-income housing. Indeed, all 5 buildings have this look. NCR is also planning to double the size of the complex on Livingston.
