Columbus wants to consolidate city offices | The Columbus Dispatch

The city will demolish the building at 109 Front St as part of consolidating offices in the area. This is near the continuing renovation of the old Police HQ, a building that will contain most of the consolidation. Though the article mentions future development of the site, nothing formal has been mentioned yet.

Housing plan near Big Darby is rejected by advisory panel | The Columbus Dispatch

Good to see the Big Darby watershed being protected, but I think this is ultimately going to force Hilliard to change the way it builds altogether. There's not a ton of land left within the city that can be easily built on, and it can't expand further west. If typical suburban building is going to be out because of the Big Darby, densifying its already existing neighborhoods may be the last and best option for population growth. Unfortunately, I really see no push for that kind of development on land not effected by the Big Darby development restrictions. A recent $70 million development near Cemetery Road is a bit of residential and retail with 60-70% surface parking, the epitome of suburban development.

Whitehall might offer homebuyers $5,000 | The Columbus Dispatch

Whitehall is considering trying to lure homeowners into its neighborhoods with $5000 towards downpayments. Right now, it has a high rate of rentals and its ownership rate is much below the rate of the rest of the city/county.

Although no one yet seems to know what's going on, the historic 4-story building at 132 E. Long St Downtown looks like it may be being prepped for renovation/redevelopment.

Streetscape Amenities | German Village Society

A master plan is being formed for the Third Street corrido in German Village. There's not much detail with the news on this site, but I know that brick is being considered to replace the asphalt.

The June 29th derecho, which became the 3rd costliest natural disaster in Ohio history, damaged or destroyed a lot of buildings throughout the state. One 128 year old building in Downtown Marysville partially collapsed, but luckily the business there has found a place not too far away.
