Our family is moving from PA to Columbus, OH. We want to rent for the first year to learn more about the area before buying. We have two children (8 and 11).

Our wants:

great schools (elementary and Middle)
proximity to work (Westerville)
single family home or condo (we have a 60 lb dog)
Upper middle class area is preferred
Modern amenities such as shopping, sports, community center, pools

We need 3 bedrooms and at least 1700 square feet with some storage. Our price range is in the $1200-$1500. Needs to allow our pets too.

We are open to condo communities. Are there any family-friendly/pet friendly ones in these areas?

Westerville
New Albany

Any suggestions of other areas is welcome.

We are planning a trip to visit the area in early April.

Thanks for your help!

J

New Albany and Gahanna are both close to Westerville. Both are upper middle class with great school districts. New Albany is a smaller suburb, mainly upper middle class. Their schools have more of a campus feel to them, the middle school and high school buildings are adjacent to eachother. Gahanna is a larger suburb, with a great parks and path system. Gahanna is mainly upper middle class, with pockets of lower middle class neighborhoods. Gahanna is more diverse than New Albany. As far as renting, i'm sorry I cannot speak much for. I'd imagine it would be easier to find a home in Gahanna or another larger suburb.
