Default The larger employers in the Columbus area

I've heard that there are a lot of large companies that are based in Columbus. Can anyone share some of these?

I've read that Honda and The Limited are there.

Thanks!

I would add Limited Brands to this list, as their HQ is located on Morse Rd.

Chase (JP Morgan) has more employes in Columbus than anywhere else in the world after New York

Also, Grange Insurance is growing on S. High (Brewery District)
Abercrombie and Fitch is quite large
Hexion Chemical is growing and is now in the fortune 500 (on Broad in downtown)
and Huntington Bank in downtown on High St.

Howdy Mom!

Besides Honda and The Limited, other Fortune 500 companies based in central Ohio are...

Cardinal Health
Nationwide
American Electric Power (AEP)
Big Lots Stores
Hexion Chemical (formerly Borden)

Other large companies based here:

Huntington Bank
Wendy's (for now anyway—but I'm sure after the merger they'll still have a sizable presence)
Scotts Lawn Care
Worthington Industries
Motorists Insurance
Grange Insurace
White Castle Restaurants
Bob Evans Farms

Perhaps the biggest employers here in terms of sheer numbers (FTEs) are government bodies; it is the state capital after all:

State of Ohio
Ohio State University
Federal Government (U.S. Post Office and D.C.S.S.)
City of Columbus

Hope that helps

That's a good point, and really it's a legacy of being the former location of Bank One. Fortunately after that merger, Chase decided to keep all those jobs here.

We can certainly hope a similar arrangement will happen in the case of Wendy's, if they do in fact get bought out.

Greif Packaging/Containers (based in Delaware OH)
Mettler-Toledo (actually based here, despite the name)

Hope this info is helpful...
