Default Moving To Ohio

Hi guys! I am orginally from Canton and have lived in Florida way too long - I am trying to get my husband to relocate to Ohio and was looking at the Columbus area. So far from what I have seen I like the Newark area - Reynoldsburg area. Was looking at Deleware but that is a bit far north.

Everything here is sooo expensive - gas is 2.87 a gallon for premium, I pay 4.86 for a gallon of milk, and we rent a 3 bedroom apt for 1584.00 a month -

Jobs down here pay avg - working as a admin asst you can make 12.00 per hour

our kids are excited and want to make the move but my husband does not like change and even though he is having to work 2 jobs to maintain our living here, thinks that things are expensive everywhere.

Even our car insurance here is high and renters ins with hurricane protection is high if you can get coverage.

I read Columbus was a good area for jobs and just wanted some insight from people that live there if this is true or not.

thanks for your time!

Hi, I live in the Dublin/Worthington area which is suburbs of Columubs. If you move to the Columbus area, don't live in city of
Columubus unless your single, no kids, and prefer downtown life. Good suburbs are Hilliard, Upper Arlington, New Albany, Dublin and Worthington. Columbus suburbs offer excellent schools and great place to raise a family. Taxes are a little hight though. Job market seems to be pretty good in all areas here.

To the previous post, milk here is usually always on sale around $1.50 - $ 1.99 and is hardley ever higher than $ 2.75.

Default We would LOVE to have you back

Wow! I didn't realize Florida was so high.

Most of the Franklin county suburbs are good. I think you should consider your commute from work when deciding where to live. The commute from the North and East into downtown during morning rush hour are the worst and of coarse vise versa in the evening. Another consideration is style of community - old versus new, lot size, and price ranges of homes. For 1500 a month I am sure you could find a 3-4 bedroom nice home in many central ohio neighborhoods. If you are looking for more land/less house or more land/more house check out the surrounding counties. They are mostly rural and land is still available although disappearing fast! You can contact me by private email or message to set up a custom home search. There are many small villages within 30 miles of Columbus. Some favorites are Granville, Prospect,Ostrander,London, Harrisburg, and Commercial Point. As far as close-in suburbs make sure to check out Grove City.
