I don't understand why they cut the pizza's the way they do here. NY you get this big ole slice - no lil pieces......... in NY we call Pizza - Pie, so when we order on phone, we say, can we have a Large Pie...
There are some places here that cut them into wedges, but most places do seem to cut them into smaller rectangular pieces. People from New York (not only you) seem to think that is odd, but I prefer them that way, for two reasons. One, the bigger wedges seem harder to keep the toppings from falling off and seem more difficult to handle--they bend and stuff falls off more often. Two, with pieces varying in size, it's easier to decide how much one wants. A large wedge is a bit of a commitment, but if you have it cut into rectangles, and you're only still hungry enough for a small piece, there are always those four tiny corner pieces. It may be not the "traditional" pizza cut, but I think practicality wins out over tradition for me.
And if you tried to order a "large pie" at a pizza place here, you'll either get a "we don't have pie here, this is a pizza place!" (at worst) or a "Ya mean a pizza?" (at best).

Love
I LOVE Dunkin Donuts' coffee and the doughnuts! Can't stand Krispy Kreme and I live in the middle of Krispy Kreme country. Blah. Every time I go home to NY, I spend too much time at DD. And the pizza...you can't get pizza any better than in Upstate NY, in the center part of the state. Nobody does pizza like Utica, NY. Best. Pizza. Ever. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

Most Pizza, Bagels, Delis are disgusting outside the New York metropolital area.
I sure hope San Diego doesn't let me down.

Torn2Pieces -The best bagels in Columbus IMHO are at Block's Bagels in Bexley. The closest to New York Pizza you're going to get in Cols is The Flying Pizza on Bethel Rd or on OSU campus. Also, Sarafinos in the North Market in Short North has good pies. For Chinese, Hunan Lion on Bethel Rd. or Joey Chang's on Millrun near Hilliard. I have family in NYC that I visit regularly. I know what good bagels, NY pizza, and Chinese food tastes like. You're right, can't get it here in Columbus, but the places mentioned do come close.

Roger that! I've had pizza from each of those places and they are all awesome! The Bethel Rd. Fly-Pie is always convenient for a quick lunch...and what a deal!
Sarefino's is my favorite stop in the whole North Market (well them, and also the hot dog/frankfurter place just up and across the aisle...)
Yummm!
