We live in UA and curious to hear what other people are seeing on bids to add on. Here people are coming at us at $300/ft. Yet I know people 15 minutes building new for $150, and high end propertis in our neighborhood trade at $250/ft. What are some other ranges you have seen? We'd be adding 800 sq. ft on 2 floors, to an existing 2,000 square foot home. pretty standard, knock the backwall, kitchen/family room/bath on first floor, master bed/bath/office on 2nd level...middle/upper finish quality

In Pittsburgh, a contractor gave us a quote of 125 a square foot for a two story addition. This was for block walls on the first floor and with the second floor framed. This was a bare bones addition and certainly not high end. No, plumbing and the typical electrical. This was based on a very affordable hourly rate for this area.

Your problem is that you are redoing a kitchen and two baths which are the most expensive rooms in the house.
