Sorry but are you talking about Columbus, Ohio? Columbus has shown strong growth in all sectors of its economy including population growth. It is bringing in people from all over the country, it is home to numerous fortune 500 companies, the unemployment rate is consistantly below the national average, it has amazing metro parks, and construction is going on all over showing progression.
Ohio has yet to show a population decline according to the census bureau. Consistanly we have shown growth every year. Sorry, the South East has some amazing states, but their population growth is crazy and they are incountering many problems of their own. You are seeing more and more people from Florida moving to Ohio every year. The problems are getting worse than you think. No place is perfect, and everyplace is experiencing its own problems.

I am proud to say that your opinion, though you are entitled to it, is the minority in this city. Many are proud to call Columbus home or a place to visit. Columbus is a very well run city and has a growing economy. Columbus has some of the greatest potential of any city in the US. There are not many places that are corporate centers, have the largest university in the US, and have government/civic minded jobs in a state capitol, all in one. Columbus is a unique city and has been configured for growth.

Well said Streetcreed. I am one of those who now call Columbus home after moving here nearly 2 years ago. I love it here. People have been more than welcoming here than any other city I've lived in. We are also in such close proximity to many other great places in the Midwest/East that driving to them is a breeze.

I'm glad to hear you are enjoying Columbus. That is one thing I am really happy about calling Ohio home. There are so many nice people here willing to help you out. Now don't get me wrong, every state has its fair share of rude people, but I have found that many here in Ohio are willing to help you out when you need it.

I have also been looking at columbus as a place to move in maybe a year or so. I currently live in las vegas, in the heat of the desert where every house looks the same. I am tired of the "rubber stamp" neighborhoods, strip malls, 1/2 naked women on every billboard and taxi cab.
I grew up in northeastern ohio and moved out to vegas when i was 18 (many moons ago) and i am really aching to go back to ohio. everything you say about columbus are the things I have noticed as well. Good Luck with your move! I hope its everything we think it is!!!!!!!

Really? I'd hope so...to be honest I've always been scared to drive through there, I avoid it whenever I can.

I moved here after a short stint in Houston after leaving Chicago.
Columbus was recently described to me by a young (28) single guy as a "hidden gem".
I absolutely agree with him and am over the moon about living here.
I don't plan on leaving.
