Default What the best on the East Suburbs -Kirkersville?

Hello to all- We have been searching for a place to relocate that offered what we need for a family of 5. We are leaving Michigan not due to job loss, but will be transfering within the company to a just opened position in Kirkersville which is east of Columbus on the map. This the first decent area we have been offered and are going to jump on it. Could you kind folks let me know a bit about the area and about maybe something affordable within a 40 minute commute of Kirkersville. I would be so greatful, we are very excited to be moving from Saginaw. We will also have to rent while our house here is up for sale so any help in that arena would be wonderful too, a decent family neighborhood with good schools. We aren't picky or snooty and from the map I see we might encounter more cows and corn then any crime in Kirkersville. Or even anywhere near!
Thanks- Dori

Kirkersville is a 40-minute commute from lots of places. There's a lot of traffic going into Columbus in the mornings, but not much headed out that direction. If you are looking for a typical suburban residential area with a good reputation, Pickerington seems to get the best press among Columbus's eastern suburbs. Pataskala is closer to where you'll work and not as developed yet. If you want to live in a smaller town, Hebron and Buckeye Lake to the east are small yet have amenities (and probably lower housing costs). I haven't been to Kirkersville itself, so I don't know what it has to offer.

Kirkersville is a neat little town! It's right along historic U.S. 40 (the National Road).

Since it hasn't been "discovered" and subsequently crapped up w/subdivisions and strip malls, Kville still has its quiet, laid-back, rural atmosphere. There are quite a few farms w/livestock in the surrounding area.

Nearby places with more amenities would include Hebron and Buckeye Lake (east), Baltimore (south), Etna and Pataskala (west, toward the city).

But if you're looking for a relaxed, out-of-the-way place to call home, you'd do pretty well with Kville.
