Considering a hocking hills getaway with kids. They are all under age 10. With one toddler as well. I have never been to the area before so am wondering about best times of year to visit, places to swim if we come in summer, area attractions and if you think the kids would enjoy this area of Ohio. Any suggestions for family cabins with hot tubs would be great too.

Spring/Fall probably best with kids, but summer is certainly an option as well. It's just hotter. It primarily depends on how much your kids like hiking as that's one of the main things to do. That and family time at the cabin (games, hot tub, firepits, movies, etc.) I'm not sure about swimming, but I imagine it's available somewhere. There's also a zip-lining place you should check out. Google is your friend.

Depending on how far away you live, you might also consider a quick weekend/overnight w/o the kids in the winter. Cabins are cheaper and it's less crowded. Hiking in the winter is fine as long as you bundle up and hot tubs FTW. There's also a good dining option in the area - Glenlaurel Inn, which isn't really kid friendly. You can also get relatively inexpensive massages in your cabin.

As far as cabins go, there's a ton of options and almost all have a hot tub. My wife and I have used cabins by the caves (CabinsByTheCaves.com) for our trips and haven't had any issues. Value seems to be good. From their homepage, on the left you can look at all of the different cabins (and sizes) they offer.
