I am thinking about staying at a Best Western located at this address:

888 E Dublin-Granville Road,
Columbus, OH, 43229

In some of the reviews, people have mentioned this is not a safe area. Can someone add to that information. Do I have to be concerned about the safety of myself or my car at this location? I would be staying for two night during the week not on a weekend.

Here is the location on a map:

My opinion: no, I wouldn't stay there. "Motel row" (the collection of motels at the junction of US 23 and 270) is much safer. There is everything from a Red Roof Inn to a Sheridan in that area, plus several restaurants.

I don't think you'd get robbed, but there are a number of car break-ins and petty theft around those near east area motels on Morse and E. Dublin-Granville (near I-71) -- the Easton Mall area is OK (and very pricey).

I was just at the extended stay up north on "motel row" for nearly a week: I had my car packed full of things for my move to Iowa, and no one messed with it.

Thank you for the information!

Last year I stayed at a hotel on Zumstein Drive. I did not feel like it was unsafe but since I am not from the area, how would I know.

A few years ago, I did stay at the Sheridan Suites just north of 270 but it would be triple the price. I can get the room on Zumstein Drive again...

That is a prostitute haven....all the craigslist, backpage.com etc hookers rent out those hotels/motels all on 161/Dublin-Granville Rd. I would never stay over there

I stayed at the Super 8 on 161 for a week while waiting for my apartment, and while it is not a very pretty area, I didn't have any problems. Saturday night was rowdy outside of the hotel, but otherwise it was fairly quiet (esp. inside the motel), and the rooms were actually decent for $40/night.

I usually stay in that area when I have to stay over in Columbus now that I no longer live in the area, and have never had any problems.

That particular Best Western is the hotel my family and I stayed at the night we got here from Texas. Our debit card had been locked down again because we had used it in different states on the way up so we had to wait until morning for them to clear it. We had $55 left in cash on us and that Best Western was what we ended up with when trying an Express deal on Priceline for $35.

I was highly unimpressed with the hotel, even at the reduced $35 rate. The AC in the room froze up in a few minutes. We sweated ourselves to sleep. The hot water in the morning was nonexistent. No elevators were working. Shady looking people hanging out by all entrances and exits smoking and drinking.

We have been staying at the Extended Stay up at 23 and 270 ourselves since. It's $55 a night here for a double bed room on the fourth floor and the internet is hopelessly slow. There is supposed to be some sort of "Plus" program you can sign up for but it is rumored that it will not actually save us any money over what we're paying now since rack rates went up $20 a night since we checked in. Would have been nice to stay here for $35 a night considering we've been in this room three months now, as it would have saved $1800 thus far!!!

Yo, Occupant -- if you, wife, and kids are who I met, I made it to Iowa OK!

Y'all are in my prayers. I hope you can get out of there soon! If not, good luck! That's a crowded way to live. ):
