Hey guys. I'll be moving to the Columbus area soon, somewhere in the outskirts. I'm looking to rent a 2bd/2ba apt with my teenager. What can I expect to pay each month for utilities (winter & summer)? Cable will be basic w/wifi. Please provide an all electric and electric and gas estimate. Thanks!

2,100 sq ft ranch we pay ~100/mo electric budget billing, $140/mo for internet/phone/premium cable bundle, and our natural gas is not on budget billing but ranges from $30/mo in the summer to as high as $130 this winter but the average of the last 14 months just calculated to ~$60/mo. If my math is right you're all-in monthly utilities average should cap out at $300. Of course, basic cable versus premium and less square footage would translate to lower bills.

I live in a 2bd/2ba all electric apartment roughly 1000 sq ft. There's 3 of us. One being a small child. Our electric in the Summer was around $170 at its highest. In the Winter it was $250 at its highest when it got really cold. Cable is around $110 with 20mbps wifi. You can't get basic cable with Time Warner, you have to have a cable box these days. This is comparable to just about every apartment I've lived in. They don't have great insulation most of the time.
