Default Buffalo NY to Florida to Cleveland OH

Relocated to South Florida 2 years ago from Buffalo, NY. Husband lost job in mortgage mess but has opportunity to get better job in Cleveland. We know what we're in for as far as weather goes and housing is cheap.

How does Cleveland compare to Buffalo?

Does the State of Ohio have a school website that shows what each area's school is rated?

Are people generally friendly - they are not in South Florida & it is hard to meet people/make friends.

Thank you.

I'm from northern Ohio and I can say that the people are extremely friendly and down-to-earth ! The thing I love about Ohio people is that they are so easy to be with. There is not a lot of the "keeping up with the Joneses" stuff. People just are who they are. If you've ever seen the Drew Carey show, it's set in Cleveland, and it's a very true picture of the place. I can go back to Ohio and make several new friends in one weekend. People are not all dressed up and pretentious. Once recently I was in Cleveland Hopkins airport and the guy at the cookie shop was apologizing to every single person in line because the cookies weren't quite done yet. Imagine that ! I live in Washington DC and it is soooooooooo cut-throat. You will love Ohio. Apart from the relentlessly rainy springs, it's a really cool place and the people are wonderful !

tmkilanowski, for interactive school ratings report, go to http://www.ode.state.oh.us --> Report Card Data (iLRC) (located on the left navigation in bottom section)

There are many ways to look at the data, including Power Users where you can pull different districts together and compared.

I am originally from Western NY and lived in Cleveland for 3 years. Loved it! It was so nice to be able to drive home for a weekend and it felt a lot like Western NY. We lived in Bay Village (less snow on the West side of Cleveland than on the East side). The school district is great, it has a small town feel but it is still close to Cleveland. Would move back in a heartbeat!
