Hi all-

My family and I have a potential move to Columbus coming up, and are looking for family friendly areas in the eastern suburbs. Can anyone make some recommendations, or maybe even places to stay away from? In this order our priorities are the school system, the value for our money on a home, and a family friendly area with plenty to do! So far we have been researching North Pickerington and New Albany. Does anyone have experience with these two areas? What are your recommendations? Anything I should know?

Thank you!

New Albany... nice looking, but expensive with, from what people have said, not the greatest construction standards. It's also a bit of a drive from everything. Same with Pickerington in the last point, but you'll probably spend 1/2 the money there for housing as you would in New Albany.

I would also recommend Bexley, my wife and I move there 6 years ago and love it. Small downtown feel but only 2.5 miles from the center of Columbus. Great schools and great housing stock. Close to everything except the northwestern areas like the Zoo.

Thanks for the feedback. Bexley does look great, I will have to add it to the short list. I am concerned we will not find the house we are looking for in our price range there which is also a concern for New Albany.

Do you have any feedback on the Pickerington school system? Is it generally well regarded? I noticed that the schools on the north side seem to be rated better than those on the south side. It seems we will get more for our dollar in Pickerington, but I also want to make sure we will be getting into an excellent school district.
