Columbus was voted a top 8 cities in the entire U.S. for AA to live. Also in the top 8 for AA to start businesses that thrive. Its a great city and don't listen to the other people trying to scare you. The mayor is AA and its a great city to live. Now Cleveland and Cincy on the other hand

I have had African American clients move here from other big cities like New York and Washington DC who love it here much better than the big cities they came from. They feel it's much safer here and they have obtained good jobs and haven't indicated any racial issues or concerns.

No doubt Columbus is a good place to live, for anyone who wants a good place to live and has an education. Cleveland is a classic Rust Belt city. Cincinnati is basically the Old South located in Ohio. Lots of violence and racial tensions.

Cleveland is over 51% african american. That is the majority population. I work with many african americans who have a great lifestyle, live in great homes, either in the suburbs or a new loft downtown. Cleveland is not "classic rust belt". And Cincinnati being the Old South. LMAO, what I saw in Columbia, SC compared to what I saw in Cincinnati, completely different. The South still acts like there should be a seperation between white and black. You have to get out and travel first to see all this.

Here's the link which ranks Columbus #8 as best city for African-Americans - http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/st...4566573&EDATE= (broken link)

Here are two links talking about BET ranking Columbus #1 as best city for African-Americans -
BET Networks PR Website - News Releases (http://bet.mediaroom.com/index.php?s=43&item=304 - broken link)
http://www.nashvilleareainfo.com/Docs/Best%20Cities%20for%20Black%20Families.pdf (broken link)

I would not worry about racism at all. Columbus is very tolerating of many people. Columbus is continuing to become more and more diverse and there is not very much segregation. I think it is by far the most diverse city in Ohio and the most diverse city in the mid-west outside of Chicagoland and maybe Detroit area

It is diverse to a point. It's mostly White and Mexican where I live, which is fine but I'd like some more color! We are blessed because in our neighborhood there is a good mix of black, white and Mexican. No matter where I live I love diversity. It was just wierd when we moved here and said Where are all the black people? We missed that part of Columbus. I'm anxious to come back home.

Oh gosh I'm sorry FarewellLa I know what you are saying. Unfortunatly I think racism will always be around. I do not think there is anywhere on earth that is a utopia. I apologize if you misunderstood me. I respect your opion. I was just confused when the "they" was used. I took it to mean that all people treat you or whoever that way. I'm sorry if I misunderstood. I'm just saying that as a caucasion person in my case I was raised that people are people. I have never judged anyone because of there race. I was taking the post to mean that all the people you ran into were closest racist. That it was subtle. I know I keep saying sorry but I am. I didn't mean that at all. All opions are welcome for me.

Anyone I have talked to who has lived in Cincinnati(or Ohio for that matter) has told me that racial tensions are bad in Cincinnati. One of them told me Cincinnati was like the Deep South.

Cincy and Cleveland are very segregated and toss in Akron as well. I have AA friends who said the same thing that southern attitude exists in Detroit, Cincy, Cleveland that should belong down south.....
