I'm going to be staying in Columbus for a weekend and was curious if anybody could give some suggestions on where to go for nightlife/bar hopping for the 20s-30s crowd, some suggestions for places to see during the day, and any tips on location for well priced hotels which are near potential places of interest. I don't have anything in particular in mind, just trying to figure out how to spend two nights and a Saturday.

Thanks in advance!

Night life is definitely the Short North.

Short North/Arena District (Park Street) for the 20 Somethings. Any downtown hotel will put you close to those areas...Hampton Inn on High STreet is the best located hotel for that nightlife imo.

As for sights and places of interest...it depends what you like. If science is your thing, COSI just west of downtown is pretty good...you can go tour The Ohio State University Campus just a couple miles north of downtown...if your a zoo person, the Columbus Zoo is one of the country's best and is North of town, probably 30 min drive from downtown. The statehouse has free tours and is kind of interesting if your into touring old buildings...Goodale Park, next to the Short North is nice park to relax in...if you like shopping, you can head up to Easton Town Center, on the NE side.

That actually sounds pretty good. Any input on the water park by the zoo and if it's worth checking out? Also, any suggestions for music shops or any fun bars/clubs that promote live music?

Thanks!
