I am not a Columbus resident, but I am an Ohio native and I can tell you that Columbus is doing very good. It has a strong economy. Job stability in Columbus really isn't a problem. They have an unemployment rate under the national average, and are showing growth in the job sector. The population is growing, the suburbs are great, and there are some great state parks just minutes outside of the suburbs. Columbus is one of those "new" Midwestern cities.

I've lived in LA for over 20 years, can't wait to move back to Columbus. Just need to find the right job opportunity.

I've always liked Columbus. Only been there twice and would like to visit again. It's not too far from Captain Robert Pollard in Dayton.

I too am looking into moving back to ohio. I grew up in Bath, a suburb of akron and have lived in Las Vegas for the last 30 years. I keep thinking i'm crazy for wanting to move back there because i will be leaving the 330 days of sun a year but i miss the beautiful surroundings, a simpler life etc.
I am thinking of columbus because its a "real" city and after living in vegas with the convenience of great dining, great shopping only minutes away from the house i'm afraid i'll go through withdrawls if i go to the akron area because it doesn't seem to be doing very well.
am i crazy for wanting to move back?

LOL I see you like Vegas, but I was wondering the couple of times I have been there, why would anyone want to move here?!? "real" city to mean does not describe Las Vegas. I did like the surrounding area though. It was growing way too fast, people told me of the problems they were facing there, and I saw they were digging away at the mountains to make more room to build, now that is crazy!
Columbus is a great "young" city with so much oppurtunity. A lot is happening there, and the population and economy continue to grow at a strong rate. I don't think you are crazy for wanting to move back, lol but what made you want to move to Vegas?

I moved to Vegas involuntarily so to speak. My parents came out here so i didn't have much choice. I hated it for quite a while and then i really liked being in a place that was growing and full of energy. I had my kids here and got stuck in that "i don't want to take them away from family and friends" situation. Now that they are almost grown (20 and 17), i'm really wanting to leave. It hasn't been terrible living here but the bigger it gets the more pretentious (sp) it gets. Too many fake boobs, fake people, fake money, all that b.s. that i hate.
They have built the town right up to the edge of Red Rock which is a beautiful mountain range. Now its just a matter of when the BLM decides to sell that land and build houses in those mountains. how sad is that?
I keep looking at columbus and it just feels right. I love all the things you say about it.
Where do you live?
