What do you most like about Columbus
After an array of negative attacks on Columbus from the minority of people that have had a bad experience there... I would like to here the positive attributes or encounters you have had in Columbus

I am not a Columbus native and have lived in several other big cities, most recently D.C. I love that Columbus has so many great neighborhoods to chose from within close proximity to the city. Clintonville, Grandview, Bexley, UA, Victorian Village, Italian Village and German Village are my favorites. Like nearly all other cities, Columbus has sprawl, but you don't have to live in an outlying area to get a great community feel, good schools, etc. I love the low cost of living!
I also love The Burgandy Room in the Short North. Wine and tapas bars have grown in popularity in the last few years, but Columbus seemed to be ahead of the trend, especially for the midwest. Columbus doesn't have the variety of D.C., but there are still many great dining choices. I don't go to chain restaurants like Applebees or Friday's, so it's great to have different options.

Dirt cheap housing (compared to major cities) and friendly people.

C'mon people there are lots of things to love about Columbus. I already said what I didn't like in the other thread so here are some things I loved:
1.) German Village - beautiful architecture, restaurants
2.) Grandview - so close to downtown and yet such a nice area
3.) the shopping- from Easton and Tuttle mall to the little shops in Westerville
4.) the weather is pretty mild yet still 4 seasons
5.) low cost of living
6.) the midwestern feel of the city
7.) Blue Jackets games - I love hockey!
8.) Buckeye pride (lots of people listed this as a negative but hey the Buckeyes are great in basketball and football - what's not to be proud of?).
9.) Its central location - Columbus is within driving distance to many other cities for a quick getaway.
10.) Columbus is a test market for many things so you get many things before other people in the country.
I could go on, but let's have some other people contribute...

i don't know why people are so down on the buckeyes... they all say "why don't we have a professional football or some other kind of team" but how can you beat the over 100 year tradition of Ohio State... could someone honestly tell me they would rather trade The Buckeyes for the browns or bengals? i think not... and I would venture to guess OSU brings more income to the city than either of those two teams

I agree. We are from PA but my husbands favorite College team is Ohio State. We are hoping to move out there soon. I don't care what negative things I hear about Columbus. It's not scaring me away.

LOL actually 1.7 million. OSU is the largest university in the country. That right there is something to be proud of. It has a long lasting tradition. Columbus is home to the Blue Jackets and they have pro soccer team. Sorry some people can't stand the fact that Columbus does not have a pro football team.
Columbus is a great city that offers a large growing economy, friendly people, and a great freeway system that makes traffic not that bad compared to other cities. It has a growing population, great suburbs, and one of the best metro park systems in the country.
BTW, great idea for a thread.
