Everytime I return to Columbus, I have to have to eat at Donatos. Being stuck in Chicago, I cannot find any thin pizzas that even resemble it. Adriatico's is also pretty good.

Scramblers is also fantastic, I prefer it over First Watch.

I also like WG Grinders for being a sandwich place.

What places am I missing?

What are you joking? Donato's tastes like burnt cardboard with rancid cheese on top. I had loaded up on some - just because it was down the road and the driving was treacherous - for the great blizzard of the 21st century, and now that I've had my fill I honestly don't care to eat it again until the great blizzard of next century. I can't believe you miss that stuff in one of the world's greatest pizza cities. Columbus doesn't have any distinct food, unless you count trash like Wendy's, Charley's, Max and Erma's, or whatever else that's franchised, greasy, unoriginal, and ends with 's.

Spac3d-- you are so right!! donatos is the best!!! and as for some more good columbus food... i will suggest one but it is columbus area... not columbus... over my way in plain city we have two Amish style resturants Der Dutchman and Dutch Kitchen and they have some of the best food and bakeries anywhere! but i'm with you on donatos!

Are you KIDDING me?!? I used to live in far north Chicagoland area for a few years and I cant believe you are saying this. The pizza in Chicagoland/southeast Wisconsin dominates central Ohio pizza. I hardly even eat pizza around here, same with my dad. I cant believe people think Donatos is pizza. Donatos is a graham cracker with cheese

i totally agree with scottie and paddington. we also have great pizzas here in cleveland. but my wife ( who is from columbus) likes donatos. and when we visit her family in columbus they will aways get some cardboard pizza and tell me how good it is..lol ( i forgot, they cut it in squares also). i try to tell the wife and her family that they are eating "fast food pizza" and the only pizza they should order are the small family pizza joints... how funny to see this in a post, we jokingly argue about this everytime i bring home antonio's or marsella pizza instead of donatos !

The best and biggest burger you will ever eat is at the Thurman Cafe on Thurman Ave in Columbus. You will not be disappointed.
If you like BBQ, try Hoggies or City BBQ.
For more upscale try Mitchell's Steakhouse. They are now owned by Ruth's Chris, but they have not changed anything yet.

It has been a couple of years but I really liked the Gahanna Grill, their Beanie Burger was great!

I loved spaghetti warehouse in Franklinton, just west of Cosi... the atmosphere is very original and the food is pretty good too (try their bread!)

I agree! Thurman's on Thurman Street in German Village for the best burger anywhere. And Hoggy's for some great BBQ. Hoggy's has several locations. I've only tried the one on Sancus Blvd (just off the Polaris parkway). It's a big white barn. It's decorated with farm implements and equipment, including a full size tractor hanging over the colorful tables and chairs. The stalls around the edges are booths big enough for 6 to dine. The food is great. If it's your first time, try the sampler platter with pulled chicken, pulled pork, and beef brisket and be sure to order a side of some really great macaroni and cheese.

I haven't tried Mitchell's Steakhouse, but it's on my list now.

Whenever we go to Inniswood Gardens in Westerville, we stop in downtown Westerville and eat at one of the little cafes along North State Street. Sorry I can't remember their names right now, but it's a really nice experience.
