Jersey Baptist Church has about 2600 members I believe. Whenever I am looking for a church in a new city I use the Church Search on The Southern Baptist Convention website.

My only suggestion, and I mean this with a sincere heart, is find the church with the teachings closest to Jesus Christ's church he established on earth. This church may not have perfect and "awesome" fellowshipping, but the church with the teachings that allow you to develop a closer relationship with God and know of all of his teachings is most important.

Just a thought

That's a great thought, and I totally agree.

Who knows...there may come a time I'll have to face such a choice. The church I've been attending for the past 5 yrs. really feels like home and has some wonderful people in it. Great fellowship! But...

We're historically affiliated with a very liberal denomination, the ELCA. And although our pastors have so far held the line admirably, it's hard to say what would happen if the national office bigshots come down hard and demand this church must start preaching "diversity", liberalism, syncretism, heterodoxy, heresy, apostasy...you know, all that new-age crap!

If that ever happens, I'd head straight for the door and to the nearest biblical church!

I hope you are able to find that church.

I think, and I really feel this is natural for all of us, we want to feel belonging and friendship. While I really know this is so important and should exist in any church, sometimes members of a faith aren't always the greatest examples of Jesus Christ, but that I guess is why going to church is one way to become a better person and more like Christ. Those "no so great examples" may turn off people to their church, but as long as we have a firm foundation that what we need in life are ALL the teachings and truth Jesus had in the church he established when he was on the earth and not just bits and pieces, that will allow us and our family to have happiness in this life and when we return to live with Him.

I know I may not be answering your questions very directly, but just wanted to share some thoughts, from one brother to another.

How do you like Columbus so far?

ummm.....i suppose that what most everyone is saying is that the churches I mentioned (apparantly) wrap themselves in the EQUAL RIGHTS flags. They allow anyone, regardless of sexual orientation, creed or background to attend. They do not judge anyone, as it is not their place to do so. I suppose if you were looking for a something that does not accept everyone into their congregation, then you would want to look at the other places mentioned. I don't find them appealing, but then again....I am (again, apparantly) a tree hugging hippie that wants to save the environment, believes in equal rights for everyone and does not feel it is my place to judge anyone. That is all.

Tragically, that day has arrived.

Trendy, worldly values finally prevailed in the nation's largest Lutheran body this past week, relegating the Bible to the status of an ignored, discarded document. Instead of heeding God's Word as written, they opted for the "popular" course—and I for one will not be following them.

It is decision-time for this Christian.

It is a sad time for all of Christianity.

If anyone's looking, might I suggest the West Broad Church of Christ. It's a small but wonderful congregation. This little snippet from their website makes it pretty clear:

The West Broad Church of Christ is composed of a group of Christians who are seeking New Testament Christianity.

We accept the Bible as the Word of God, the New Testament as our sole standard of authority and Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Head of the church, and our congregation is independent of other churches.

Each Lord's day (Sunday) we meet for Bible study. We have classes for every age group from toddlers through adults. After our Bible study we assemble together for worship to God. During our worship services we sing songs of praise to God, pray, and hear a sermon. Every Sunday morning during our worship service we observe the Lord's Supper, and collect an offering to support the work of the church. We offer another opportunity for our brethren to come together on Sunday evening for a time of worship (Communion is available for those unable to partake in the morning). We have Bible study each Wednesday evening.

Our only doctrine is the word of God as found in the Bible. We strive to have a friendly family atmosphere, just as we are all striving to find favor as God's children. If you are interested in learning, teaching, and doing the will of God, we think you would enjoy visiting with us. Members are expected, guests are always welcome.

Default What about Seventh Day adventist churches

What are some nice seventh day adventist churches to go to that aren't just Korean? I noticed there are a few of these kinds of churches around Columbus and a couple are Korean. My husband was seventh day adventist when we got married 8 years ago. We have been going to a Second Welsh Baptist church for the past 5 years, but I don't really think the name of the church really matters or what kind of church it is as long as it teaches the truth. We are a mixed coupple with 4 children from Wilkes Barre PA. We're looking to move possibly around January.
