Can you help us? Thinking of moving to Columbus.
My partner and I will be relocating from California next year, and are considering Columbus as a possible place to live. We will be passing through the area in late May and will be able to stop in Columbus for about a day to gather some initial impressions. We realize that this isn't nearly enough time to get a real understanding of a new place, but it will help us to narrow our choices.
We are hoping to get help with two questions: 1. We are hoping to experience the true spirit of the city. Are there any “can't miss” places in Columbus we should put on our itinerary? 2. We'll also be scouting out possible places to live if we do move there. Our dream neighborhood is safe, has leafy streets with charming/nicer older homes, and tolerant, friendly neighbors. Try Clintonville as well. Maybe even Old Towne East if your interested in an an larger older homes, close to downtown and in a more urban setting.

Recommend Victorian Village, Short North area. Great shops on High St. Gallery Hop is great if you get a chance to visit again before moving. 1st Saturday of the month.

All good suggestions. I live in Clintonville, and if you aren't too terribly interested in nightlife, it is a great neighborhood. Very leafy and some amazing homes in the Walhalla ravine, or down Milton Street way (I run along this street just to check out the homes and yards). Great antique-ing as well! Check out German Village when you visit--it's my favorite place in the city! The Old Mohawk or Easy Street Cafe are cool places to eat.

Columbus
First off dont listen to anyone who tells you to see Clintonville. Downtown is nice and so is german village if you are looking for tree covered streets and older homes. I wouldnt say there are too many cant miss locations here there is just alot to pick from based on what your interested in. Good luck and prepare for the ever changing weather in Ohio
