Hi all, I'll be moving me, my wife and our soon to be son or daughter (the wife is due in October) to Columbus in June and have been house hunting for about a month now. I've been down to Columbus three times now and finally found something in our price range and in Hilliard School District. It is a new build by Dominion Homes at the Villiage at Hilliard Run. It has a Columbus address, but Hilliard Schools and is close to shopping and 70. I met a few of the neighbors and they seem very kind and gave me an idea of what the utilities would be. Should I be worried about the location (just off Renner Road) of this area? Is this area safe or not? Any help/input would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think you need to be worried... You seem to be getting a deal, Hilliard schools with a Columbus address

Hilliard can be a little redneck, but that's about the worst of it. Dominion has a decent reputation as well. Columbus addy and Hilliard SD usually means decent and fairly easy resell if you decide to move.

I agree with both josh and alliswell. There hasn't been a murder inside City of Hilliard since '89, although we nearly had one last year when some poor lady's estranged husband came after her. Hilliard is definitely mostly suburban, but sometimes there can be a redneck element here and there, as alliswell alluded to.
You're in the Columbus portion, but the area off Renner Road should be OK. You might even talk more to some of the people who live there. Probably the area where there is historically the most 'going on' is Bayside Commons (in the Columbus portion, up north of where you're looking at on Hilliard-Rome Rd.).
