Default Moving back to Columbus from Chicago- young couple mid 30's looking for LIBERAL diverse area

My parnter and I are moving to Columbus from Chicago -- I lived in Columbus 5 1/2 years ago and imagine much has changed. We're going to start out renting then hope to buy in about a year.... looking for a very liberal, artistic, diverse community to put down roots. Would also like some green space ... suggestions on where to look? I was thinking Clintonville - don't think we can afford the Short North....

Any info is helpful! THANKS!

Clintonville, Worthington or Grandview would appear to be good options for you.

I'm confused
You want diverse, and you say you want it to be liberal and artistic?
Which is it?
Or is it just diverse within what your allowable diversity?

Rather conservative of you

German Village and Victorian Village are both cool. And both have huge beautiful parks.

In addition I want to add Victorian Village and German Village and the University District, by OSU, to this list.

All of these areas are very nice, fairly liberal, areas. However, in Columbus the most liberal areas lye in the innercity or innerring or older suburbs. These areas are liberal but nice because they have higher property values, education systems, but lack ethnic diversity. German Village and Victorian Village's diversity comes from its diversity in sexual orientations and ages.

It can be very hard finding a more urban, nice, liberal and diverse areas in Columbus. The most diverse and liberal areas are the least known in the city. Check out an area SE of the suburb of Bexley called Berwick. The area is very diverse and liberal. However, it is not very known because it is nearly residential and lacks a central retail strip.

The Bexley retail strip is nearby. Also, the far east side is very diverse as is the far NE side (161/morse rd) however these areas are not known for being the nicest and resemble a more ethnic version of average American suburbia.
