Yes,
most state's flagship universities are not located in the states largest city and the state's capital.

This has a big impact. OSU has a bustling retail/nightlife district stretching one side of the university. OSU is, also, located near downtown. The entire stretch of High St. (Columbus' main street) between OSU and downtown Columbus is nothing but bars, restaurants, locally owned shops, and some clubs/nightlife.

Columbus' urban core is anything but sleepy. The only reason you would feel bored is if there was a lack of a certain minority centered bar (like cuban nightlife) or something.

Agreed. OSU and the surrounding area are jam packed with things to do. And if you get bored of that, you can take a free bus ride (if you;re a student) for 10 minutes and be right downtown.

There is always something to do in Columbus and as a student you are offered incredible discounts through www.explorecolumbus.com Also you are so close to so many other places if you want weekend getaways or what not.

Chicago--5 hour drive
New York--8 hour drive
Washington Dc--6 hour drive

And the list goes on and on. Everything from big city to out in the country...Columbus, OH has it!

The school pride is great and as far as I know the Ohio State University is a fantastic school. The whole city seems to be a fan of the Buckeyes!

Good Luck

1. Yes columbus is a great place to have fun, I had the time of my life there, and plan on moving back as soon as I find a new job there, and plan on having the time of my life again in the future.
2. I loved going to Ohio State, the campus is beautiful, there's always things to do on and around campus, and there are people from all walks of life on campus, it was a very nice experience.
3. There's always something to do in columbus to entertain yourself, whether it's eating, shopping, hiking, biking, the arts, or drinking....lol
