Of course there is a lot of crime out there but to most other neighborhoods in in the city just think of them as dirty. and it is dirty and that's how people come up with these assumptions on here. there's a lot more than just livingston, hilltop and linden.
Also how would Columbus be behind Cincinnati when they have less people but more homicides on a consistent basis? and Dayton

Please dont say easthaven or whitehall THEY ARE NOT THE GHETTOS!!!! I keep hearing this stupid crap on the streets. Mt. vernon, lincon, trvitt, south linden, north linden, the bottems, the hilltop, parsons, milo, vidoc, E main, agler and grogan these are the real ghettos of columus.
Can you read???

where did i say whitehall and where do you come with me with this "can i read" stuff and the bottoms and hilltop are the same thing all im saying is for a city that averages about 80-100 homicides there has to be more "rough areas" than you think. Right? This year 90 people haven't died on Livingston ave

Ive only been to Detroit a few times, but 8 mile is just the beginning, if you really want to see something check out the streets off of Gratiot on the Eastside, Chene/VanDyke/Mack/and a lot of the side streets, and thats just what I saw. Not Livingston exactly but the streets N of the highway, specifically some side streets off of E Main. Thats the worst I saw in Columbus. Some of it looks like Detroit, bombed out blocks over there.
If Columbus didnt include all the suburban areas and was just the old urban city limits, it would be right behind Cleveland and Cincinnati for cities 100k+, possibly worse than Dayton. To me, the worst areas in Ohio are on the Eastside of Cleveland/East Cleveland. Its the biggest ghetto by far in Ohio and has the biggest population and area. Specifically, I would say areas off of St. Clair/Superior/Kinsman/Shaw/Hayden. Columbus, Cincinnati, Youngstown, and Dayton all have pretty rough areas also. At the end of the day, I think if anybody had a choice they would rather live in a safe neighborhood though.

St. Clair is a REALLY long street. It goes from just west of downtown all the way to Euclid Square Mall (basically w10th to E250th), I thought it was something like 12 miles. Past 55th its rough pretty much the whole way past 185th.

I do not think you will find a 100% black neighborhood, but you will find a neighborhood that is extemely diverse. My neighborhood has a nice mix of people, young an old, black, white and asian, single parent and family. I do not know if you are interested in renting a house, but there are a lot of nice homes for rent in the Canal Winchester area.

Thanks for the info. I did like Canal but I think its quite aways from my job. I'm still searching and yes I'm looking to rent.
With me not being from Columbus, alot of these posts are totally going over my head, but its interesting none the less. I recently found out my job will be moving to Hilliard. From my first impression its not very diverse town and I am not thrilled about the ideal of living there. Just a couple more questions, what "side" of town is Hilliard considered to be (North, East, ect) and are there any neighborhoods closer to Hilliard that fit my original description? Thnks.

I would not move my kids to an all black or any other one culture community. They need to be around other cultures. That is why the world is the way it is. People donot want to broaden their horizons. I want my kids to learn the culture of others. This way they will learn how to love and appreciate other people. There is too much racism as it is. I grew up in an all black middle class community. They were against other cultures as well as their own. I have family members that have married and are dating outside of there race. There wives, girlfriends, and extended family are part of our family. I donot need a response from anyone. We all need to live, love, respect, and care for each other no matter what color.

Just as I didn't need a response from you. I've been in all types of environments and I have respect for every culture. Me and my children's values are sound and I don't need a fake social studies lecture from anyone. Its obvious we live in a society where people of color are the minority, we have no choice but to interact with people of other races. If I want to make a special effort for my children to live in a nice neighborhood AND be around people that look like them thats my choice. I'm assuming everyone on this forum is an adult who has made up their mind regarding race relations. No need waste your time giving your two cents about the subject when that is not the question at hand.
