Default residential parking in columbus ohio

hello, i was just wondering if anyone can help me out I live on a residential street and always have trouble parking in front of my own house. I have 5 small children and dont think I should have to park way down the street because someone is being rude by parking in my spot and basically its only narrowed down to two houses across the street and two house down across the street also. Both of these houses own 4 to 5 vehicles in which one house directly across the street only 2 people actually drive. This really annoys me seeing that I only have 1 vehicle and there is enough room for at least 2 vehicles to be parked in front of my house. The house in between them is empty and so is the one next door to me. So why they see it fit to park directly in front of me boggles me. Just to make this short cause I see I rambling on (lol) are there any rules about parking in residential places, how many cars one house can have who can I contact to get help? Last night was ugly because I came home after leaving for only 10 mins and the guy pulled his truck from around the back of his house and parked in front of my spot where I could not even attempted to park. I have left notes on there cars and basically got into an argument with the other house that has been parking in front of my house which has not resolved anything. I have been here for about a year and still has gotten no respect. Please help!

How aggravating. Unfortunately, there are no rules governing who can park on public streets, as long as you don't block driveways, hydrants, or interrupt street sweeping.

In some areas you need permits, but I am assuming if the other cars didn't have permits they would have been towed. Permits also don't provide designated spaces. Since you didn't mention permits, I am assuming you don't have one.

Since you indicated there are five cars and two drivers, I am assuming some of these cars are not in working order? I believe if a car is parked for more than 3 days without being moved, it could be considered abandoned. You can call the police at 645-4545 (non-emergency) and let them know you suspect it is abandoned. It will then be ticketed, and if not moved within a certain period of time, it can be towed. You have to really follow up to make this happen though.
