Default Old Hilliard

We are looking to live in Hilliard, I will be a dental student at The OSU so I am interested in the commute. I am also wondering if old hilliard is a good place to have a family. I have heard hilliard is a good area, but what about old hilliard

Check out Lincoln Village. It is a very easy commute to OSU. Located near Doctors Hospital with very very easy access to I-270 and the I-70 exchange. Lincoln Village is a very tight knit community with grown children returning to raise their families. Located in Southwestern City Schools with average resell value (3-5% yearly based on historical sales). Located between I270 & Rome Hilliard Road and Just North and South of Broad Street. Average home price is between $100000- $135000.

I agree.
The area that the above poster mentioned is a great area if your looking for something in the just above or at 100,000 price range.
Also, Old Hilliard would most likely be a little bit more costly than some areas of new Hilliard, or the surrounding Columbus neighborhoods.

I know that there are lot of smaller or more ranch type homes in old Hilliard, as Hilliard and was a very small suburb, and more rurual, prior to just a few decades ago.

Many (probably most) of the homes inside the city limits of Hilliard built in the past 20 years would actually be more expensive than most of the homes in Old Hilliard (for example - Britton Farms, Hoffman Farms, Lakewood, River Landings, Heritage Lakes, etc.). The ranches/smaller homes mentioned by streetcreed (Beacon, Luxair, Avery) were typically built around 1960. These are less expensive than Old Hilliard and typically go for $115-$150K.

You might consider areas of Columbus that are inside the Hilliard School District (Cross Creek, Oak Run, etc.). These are usually a little larger than the aforementioned ranches and typically list between $145-185K. Hilliard CSD is considered to be better academically than South-Western CSD, although your $$$ will go further in South-Western than it will in Hilliard.

Our children go to Hilliard schools and we've been very pleased.

As for "Old Hilliard", I think of it mostly as being the areas directly around Norwich and Main. There aren't usually a lot of properties for sale in that immediate area. Interest is picking up in that area though and so are prices.
