hillside, when you say things that are just your "feeling" and then try to state them as a fact what do you expect me to think ??? cle440 is right, you seem to hold on to facts that agree with your point but if you dont like the facts/stats you discard them... streetcreed, i do spend ALOT of time and years in cbus so i think i know what im talking about.streetcreed, cbus is cool but its a small metro no matter how its grown (by the way it has slowed considerably). if you folks want to tell this forum how diverse cbus is go on, keep kidding yourself and others. other than the core city you have nothing to speak of outside of 7 miles (EAST,WEST AND SOUTH) of downtown. and polaris is the last thing heading north out of town. my wife (born and raised in cbus) wants me to tell you that compared to cleveland, cbus is like a box of generic cornflakes, BORING ! peace

Whoa 1watertiger! This really makes me want to move to cbus. Just because you have some black friends, you think it is acceptable for you to even hint at the n-word? Like people won't figure out what "******s that ruin it for my black friends" means?

I don't know how well you know your "black friends" but black people don't take to well to our friends using hurtful, derogatory, disgusting words.

Sorry to dip my two cents into your argument with hillside, and I guess you did have the decency to apologize, but next time, use less offensive language and you won't have to apologize. Can't we all just get along?!?!
I do not think that this Watertiger poster is from Columbus.

Lets get back on the topic, thanks everyone! If anyone on here is from Columbus then we need to represent this city. We are known for being one of the most welcoming cities to minorities and all lifestyles.

I'm not exactly sure how this thread turned from whether or not Columbus is one big suburb into a pissing contest about how many black people live in the three C's. Perhaps we have equated suburban with white and urban with black?

Of course, if you're limiting the conversation about whether or not a 20-something should move from DC to Columbus, I'm not sure any of that matters. The bottom line is that Columbus isn't the ideal place for a 20-something who wants to primarily go out clubbing and partying, unless you're still in college.

If your primary thing in life is clubbing and partying as a young twenty-something, then you definitely would want to stay in DC. You have to look yourself in the mirror and honestly decide what it is you want from life at this point.

Columbus is one of the premier cities in America to raise a family. I firmly believe that. However, you have to understand that what makes Columbus a great place to raise family also makes it a not-so-great place for being a trendy party central. It's just not. Hard choices have to be made in life.

I think that you are on to something here. If someone has a reality TV show and must find a different club, bar, or event every night of the week then maybe you would eventually feel like almost any middle or big city is boring.

However, I think both sides have merit. Columbus is a great place to raise a family it also is a place with many young professionals ( I can speak from both sides of the fence.)

Columbus has lively neighborhoods like the Arena District and Short North and family areas like Clintonville or the NW side etc.. The city is not either just a place to have fun or work, it is a place where you can find both. Not every US city has the right combination of both fun, safety, good schools, clean neighborhoods, etc., like Columbus.

ExCMHer, you are right. I just turned 25, got married, bought a house and passed the cpa exam. And now I am thinking, "ok, now that you have accomplished the beginning goals, it is time to decide how you want the rest of your life to be." I am still trying to figure out if I want a fast paced life in the big city, or if I want to settle down and be more family-centered. As a result, I find myself going on partying marathons followed by cooking and baking marathons. My husband is waiting patiently while I go through a frenzy trying to make up my mind.

We live in the outer area of Columbus. Delaware/Lewis Center area. Moved here 10 years ago. Our feeling is that Columbus is a big melting pot. half the people that live here, including us, are not from here. We love the area. Just tired of the "ohio" weather. When ask what the weather is like outside, we say "what time is it". It changes so much.

We moved from the Pittsburgh area. And I have to admit. PGH has a bunch more ethnic homeowners. We do miss that part of PA. The PGH area has so many diverse restaurants. And they are all so yummy. The major restaurants here are: chinese, indian, mexican, pizza(not a food group), and did I mention chinese and Indian.
