I would skip Columbus and go see Cleveland and Cinci. C-bus is bland.

I agree, the reason I go back to Ohio is to see family & friends, if you have neither there, don't waste your time traveling to either place this time of year. If you want to go to the nati' or Cbus, go during the spring or summer when you can be outside. Walk along the riverwalk on KY side of the Nati in Covington, check out a Reds game at Great American Ballpark, or spend a day at Kings Island. Cbus to me isn't a place I would consider to visit as a 'vacation'. It's a nice city w/the largest University in the country, but not a lot to do that you can't do in a cities it's size closer to you i.e. restaurants, nightlife, etc. Outside of attending an Ohio State game, nothing really unique about the experience. If you're dead set on going, check out the Nati or even Cleveland before Cbus.

Wow, I guess the Ohio Tourism Department won't be hiring the three of you to write their new ad campaigns....
However, I must say I agree with you. Ohio is more of a "I gotta visit because mom lives there" kinda state.
Maybe the OP is just making sure he doesn't raise the bar too high for future trips with his girl. What's next PA Amish Country??? Well actually that homemade butter jam is pretty good....

Actually, there are plenty of neat places to visit in Ohio. IMO, those places aren't located in C-bus, sorry.

Columbus only has one of the most unique art's/entertainment districts, in its urban core, of any midwestern city. The Short North is like nothing in the rest of Ohio, is located in walking distance to hotels, and is near the Wexner Center (where the Andy Warhol showcase is now), downtown theaters, Nationwide Arena.

Also, don't forget German Village. German Village is the largest privately restored historic district in the US. Columbus is well worth a trip. You will find Ohio's most healthy urbancore with unique neighborhoods, lots of fine restaurants, local boutiques, etc. It is well worth a stay over night. PLUS great night life is downtown too.
The lofts hotel is a great romantic, urban chich getaway. The hotel is located in the Arena District, a area full of nightlife, and located right next to the exciting Short North.
I think some people from Cleveland are comparing Columbus, CIRCA 1980 or even 1994, and forgetting how much the city has changed and how urban neighborhoods have developed and been redone to true perfection. How sad.

This is the Columbus Forum. It would be appreciated if unproductive, vast generalizations were left out.
We live in a state of with many urban areas. We should appreciate each for their positive qualities.
Almost any state would beg to have a city as healthy, progressive, and young as Columbus in its boarders. Out right negativity and jealousy, cast upon the only healthy large Ohio city from the previous largest city in Ohio, makes Cleveland look insecure and desperate.
