Default The Drive From Chicago to Columbus

As many Columbus residents are Chicago transplants, I decided to put this thread here. My sister has to transfer to a new branch in Columbus for work and has a terrible fear of bridges. Especially, bridges over water or very high or long bridges. She will be taking a van to move. Is there a way to completely avoid bridges on the way through Indiana to Ohio? If so how much longer does it take? If there is no way miss all bridges, can you give directions on how to miss as many as possible? Thank you for your time.

I am not sure, I can tell you though that Columbus does have rivers around the downtown area and across the metro area, but nothing high or extremely long.

Best way to find out is check out the route she will be taking, and do some research on the internet. You will be suprised what you can find on the different routes and what to expect from traffic, construction, and yes, even bridges.

The drive from Chicago to Columbus has very little bridges ... the problem will be in Chicago. If she takes the Skyway, then she will have to deal with massive bridges. If she takes 80, then she has to go over the quarry right near the state line of Indy/IL. If her eyes are on the road at the quarry, then it will be no big deal - it is tough to see when driving because it is so wide there.

Midwest girl at heart is on a distinguished road
I am originally from the Lafayette, IN area and lived in Chicago for numerous years. If she gets herself out of Chicago (not sure where she is) onto 65 S and comes down to Indianapolis and then over on 70 it is a more pleasant drive (IMO) and the amount of bridges are very limited.
